Water Runs Through Here

Water Runs Through Here is an ongoing moving-image project centred on Miyun Reservoir in Beijing. Beginning with the artist’s family history of relocation during the reservoir’s construction, it traces the memory of their former village, now submerged beneath the water. Through his grandparents’ recollections and the everyday lives of fishermen on the reservoir, the project explores the relationships between landscape, memory and belonging.
